Chivayo taunts Chimombe Mpofu with 20 year fate

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo predicted on social media that Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu would receive 20-year prison sentences before their conviction. The statement came on Tuesday, October 22, after Prophet Passion Java posted support for Chimombe ahead of the High Court hearing. Chivayo disputed the message and declared the hearing would result in a conviction rather than a judgment. Hours later, Justice Pisirayi Kwenda found both men guilty of fraud related to the Presidential Goat Scheme.

The three businessmen were once partners in government contracts before their relationship collapsed amid corruption allegations and leaked audio recordings. The recordings from June 2024 allegedly featured Chivayo discussing connections to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and payments linked to an election commission tender exceeding 100 million dollars. Chimombe and Mpofu claimed selective prosecution based on the leaked material. The court scheduled sentencing for October 31, when officials will determine if the prediction proves accurate.
