CID Foils Robbery Attempt on GH¢1.35 Million Gold Consignment

Ghana Police stopped criminals from stealing gold worth 1.35 million cedis. Officers caught three people who planned to rob a mining worker. The Criminal Investigation Department used smart detective work to catch the thieves before they could steal anything. Police Chief Lydia Yaako Donkor told reporters about the successful operation on Monday. The criminals wanted to take gold from someone who delivers it for mining companies.

The theft plan came from the worker's driver who made a deal with two other criminals. One person pretended to be a security guard to trick the gold carrier. Police learned about the crime before it happened and set up a trap. Officers caught the criminals on Mamfe-Koforidua Road on June 26. The thieves had been planning their crime for more than one month.

Kenneth Kyeremateng rode a motorcycle and followed the gold carrier. Police found him with 1.2 kilograms of stolen gold. Adam Zibo and Masawudu Yusif helped plan the robbery from East Legon. These two men provided guns and a car for the escape. Police let a fourth person go free because he did not help with the crime.

The three main criminals stay locked up and answer police questions. Officers will take them to court soon for their crimes. Police Chief Donkor praised her team for stopping the robbery. She told businesses to work with police when moving valuable items.
