Prosecutors say Mashoko used his private car to collect contraband near the Limpopo River after an illegal border crossing west of Beitbridge. Detectives traced him to Buffalo Lodge on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road, watched the vehicle, then approached after he left with Tawanda Kumbirai, 27, a Beitbridge General Hospital nurse. Harare was allegedly the intended sales destination.
The search allegedly exposed 26 compressed cannabis packets weighing 40.8 kilograms and 200 BronCleer bottles. Each 100-milliliter container held 10 milligrams of codeine, while the substances sat concealed in the trunk. Officers arrested both men and valued the haul at US$50,960.
Police seized the car and Samsung Galaxy A17 and A16 phones. Early reviews allegedly uncovered texts, WhatsApp chats, and audio tied to procurement, transport, distribution, and sales.
