Clair Obscur RPG Smashes Sales Records Overnight

New role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has reached one million sales just three days after launch. The game sold half a million copies on its first day alone, despite being available through Game Pass on Xbox and PC. This success might help developer Sandfall Interactive recover most of the production costs for its first game.

Players and critics love the game, with many calling it a possible Game of the Year winner. The story mixes fantasy with Belle Époque French style, following students condemned to death by a powerful being. The combat system combines turn-based battles with real-time actions for dodges and parries. Famous actors Andy Serkis, Charlie Cox, Ben Starr, and Jennifer English provide character voices.

The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 but needs modest computer power. Gamers with older machines can play through the NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud service. The game supports NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution, though Frame Generation requires a special mod from PureDark's Patreon page. Wccftech will publish a complete review later this week.
