La Quimera Delay Has Gamers Seeing Red

Game maker Reburn missed the launch date for its sci-fi shooter La Quimera last Friday. The studio, made up of former Metro series staff, had planned an April 25 release. Review copies sent to media outlets received mixed feedback, with reports of major performance problems on high-end PCs.

The closed beta test faced multiple delays, running for less than a day before shutting down. Steam users who tested the game gave varied responses. La Quimera currently shows as "coming soon" on the Steam store page.

Reburn CEO Dmytro Lymar spoke through Discord about the delay. He said the team met "unforeseen challenges" as a new independent studio. Lymar added they are working fast to fix issues amid difficult conditions in Ukraine. The game might not arrive until late 2025, according to PC Gamer.

The announcement was confusing when first revealed two months ago. Press materials highlighted Metro veterans as developers. Later, 4A Games stepped in to explain that Reburn was formerly 4A Games Ukraine.
