Religious officials from western Uganda have asked King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV to restore the Tooro Kingdom Constitution, which was suspended in 2012. The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, Tooro Chapter, met at the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese to address governance concerns stemming from the absence of constitutional guidelines for over a decade.
Bishop Robert Muhiirwa stated that the document would strengthen institutional systems and promote accountability throughout the kingdom. Faith leaders from Christian and Muslim communities praised Queen Mother Best Kemigisa for advising the monarch, suggesting that marriage would enhance cultural traditions at the palace.
The council requested protection of kingdom properties and renovation of royal burial sites to attract visitors and investment. Leaders emphasized unity among subjects and the effective implementation of programs aimed at improving community welfare in the region.
