Coast Guard Seizes 3,170 Litres of Stolen Octane in Chittagong

Coast Guard officers caught fuel thieves red-handed during a midnight raid on the Karnaphuli River. The operation took place near Bridge Ghat around half past midnight on Friday morning. Officials discovered criminals unloading stolen octane from a small boat. The smugglers had been moving the fuel through waterways to avoid detection. Law enforcement seized over three thousand litres of high-grade fuel during the bust.

One suspect fell into police hands during the dramatic confrontation. Md Shahid faces charges after officers identified him as a thirty-year-old man from the local area. The criminals tried to fight back when they realized Coast Guard members had surrounded them. Violence broke out as the smugglers attempted to escape capture. Security forces quickly gained control of the dangerous situation.

Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid spoke about the valuable seizure to reporters. The stolen octane carries a street value of nearly four hundred thousand taka according to official estimates. Criminals had been stealing fuel directly from commercial ships before moving it through river channels. The illegal operation involved multiple vessels and a network of local contacts. Court proceedings will begin against those involved in the fuel theft ring.
