Coca-Cola’s AI holiday ads spark mixed reactions from fans

Coca-Cola's artificial intelligence-driven holiday advertising for 2025 has generated widespread disappointment among viewers who claim the campaign lacks emotional resonance. The beverage company deployed generative AI technology to produce two seasonal commercials featuring its trademark illuminated trucks, with one spot showing Santa Claus initiating a convoy through snowy terrain, while another depicts otters triggering the festive procession. Pratik Thakar, who oversees generative AI as global vice president, stated the brand combines traditional elements with technological advancement in its refreshed Holidays Are Coming advertisements.

Consumer response has been largely negative despite some praise for visual execution, with critics arguing that the machine-generated content fails to replicate the warmth of conventional holiday messaging. The 2024 campaign received similar backlash when audiences said algorithmic creation could not capture authentic seasonal sentiment. The company continues pursuing AI-based creative development for its most recognizable annual marketing effort despite recurring viewer criticism.
