Codasip powers European supercomputers with custom RISC-V chip

Europe picked Codasip to build a key part of a huge new computer project. The European company leads the way in RISC-V technology across the continent. They landed a deal to create a powerful main processor for a project called Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe. Everyone calls this project DARE because the full name takes forever to say.

European leaders want their own supercomputer systems built right at home. DARE aims to create superfast, energy-saving RISC-V processors designed entirely in Europe. The European Union believes in this project big time—they put down 240 million Euros just for the first three years. All the companies working together will match hardware and software designs for the best possible speed and power use.

Codasip brings something special to the table with their team based completely in Europe. The company plans to design a RISC-V processor that changes to fit different computing needs. Their approach lets customers adjust processors for specific jobs instead of using one-size-fits-all chips. Teams can modify both hardware and software together using automated design tools from Codasip.

The company already makes many different processors, from simple 32-bit cores to advanced 64-bit systems. Through the DARE project, Codasip will add high-performance options perfect for artificial intelligence and data processing. The new chips will handle the most demanding tasks any supercomputer faces. The money comes directly from the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking through grant agreement number 101202459.
