Some cops in Ondangwa let fraud suspect Abner Mateus bounce from his cell for hangout sessions before Sergeant Matheus Shipingana from Windhoek Central Police Station drove him to a guesthouse to meet his girlfriend. Deputy commissioner Frederick Ndjadila from Oshana said authorities still need to count how many times officers checked Mateus out for personal trips, and the whole mess blew open after people found out about the guesthouse visit where he allegedly drank with someone.
Mateus got hit with fraud charges in multiple regions, plus robbery allegations from when he pretended to be an officer in Ohangwena. Ndjadila mentioned the ex-cop tried paying people to wreck the case file that keeps him locked up, and seven arrests have already went down after Mateus supposedly planned an attack on public prosecutor Justine Shiweda.
