Five dudes got busted sitting directly on top of a loaded gun. Captain Neldah Sekgobela confirmed that the Anti-Gang Unit spotted a sketchy group near William and Oxford roads in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni. These guys sprinted into a house on Oxford Road to hide. Officers entered to find them chilling on a sofa, where someone stashed a 9mm Parabellum pistol with 15 rounds.
Authorities hauled the group to Reiger Park Police Station. Charges were filed for holding an unlicensed weapon along with ammunition.
This bust happened during Shanela II operations involving Ekurhuleni SAPS and Gauteng Traffic. Detectives snagged 137 suspects for various issues like contact crimes and gender-based violence. Other offenses involved drugs or drunk driving. Brigadier David Ngcobo praised the team for reducing crime in the district.
