Cops fire shots at runaway driver near St Petersburg

Police chased a speeding driver in the Leningrad Region last Friday evening. The driver from the North Caucasus tried to escape when officers attempted to stop his Hyundai for inspection. He sped up instead of pulling over, which forced traffic police to pursue him. Officers fired their service weapons at the car tires around the 132nd kilometer mark of the Narva highway. They managed to stop the vehicle without injuries to anyone involved.

After catching the reckless driver, police discovered two teenage girls inside his car. Both passengers were 17 years old. The authorities took the man to the local police station for processing. They filed multiple administrative charges against him under several legal articles. The incident happened in the Kingisepp district, not far from St. Petersburg, according to official reports from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
