Cruz Azul Crushes Whitecaps in CONCACAF Rout

Cruz Azul claimed the 2025 CONCACAF Champions League after crushing Vancouver Whitecaps 5-0. The Mexican team dominated from start to finish during Monday morning's final match. Vancouver never found their rhythm against the superior Cruz Azul attack. The victory gave Cruz Azul their first continental championship since their last CONCACAF title. Four different players scored goals to complete the rout against the Canadian side.

Edgardo Rivero opened the scoring after just eight minutes of play. Lorenzo Faravelli doubled the lead during the 28th minute with a clinical finish. Angel Sepulveda made it three goals before halftime with his 37th minute strike. Matheus Bogusz completed the first half scoring with his goal right before the break. Sepulveda returned five minutes after halftime to seal the comprehensive victory.

The championship win earned Cruz Azul automatic qualification for multiple tournaments. The team secured their place during the 2025 Intercontinental Cup competition. Cruz Azul also qualified for the expanded 2029 Club World Cup tournament. The Mexican champions will face teams from other confederations during both competitions. This continental success marks a major achievement for the club and their supporters.
