CS Ruku directs public servants to don Harambee Stars jerseys

Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku ordered government employees to wear Harambee Stars jerseys during work hours. The directive covers Monday, August 4, through the African Nations Championship finals. Ruku announced the policy during Sunday church services to promote national unity. Workers must purchase jerseys at their own expense to participate. Military and police officers receive exemptions from the requirement.

All ministry staff, constitutional commission employees, and county workers must follow the dress code. The directive extends from presidential offices to local government positions. Ruku stated that jersey-wearing would demonstrate patriotic support for the national team. Kenya hosts the continental championship at Kasarani Stadium with African nations competing. The policy aims to unite citizens regardless of tribal or political differences.

Austin Odhiambo scored Kenya's opening goal against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the tournament opener. The striker netted the ball during the first-half stoppage time. Stadium crowds and television audiences celebrated the early lead nationwide. The goal provided Kenya with a strong start in the Group A competition. Fans packed Kasarani Stadium for the high-stakes match against former champions.
