A four-person household got pulled from their place in Izvor after the local river busted through its dam and started flooding the area. Burgas officials triggered the BG-Alert warning system because both the Fakiyska and Izvorska rivers climbed way higher than normal, and the water column hit five meters near the village bridge.
The main Burgas-Malko Tarnovo highway stays open for traffic, but the route connecting Izvor to Gabar, Zidarovo, and Varshilo got shut down. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov called for the emergency alert, and authorities said other homes in the settlement are not at risk right away.
