Darrell Gallagher is out at Xbox as The Initiative closes

Darrell Gallagher departed from Xbox after serving as Studio Head at The Initiative for seven and a half years. Microsoft cancelled the Perfect Dark remake project over two months ago, prompting his LinkedIn announcement. He praised his development team's dedication and creativity throughout the project's duration. The gaming community had shown strong enthusiasm for the remake before its termination.

Take-Two Interactive attempted to acquire the Perfect Dark rights from Microsoft in a last-minute rescue effort. The two companies failed to reach an agreement regarding long-term franchise ownership. Gallagher's extensive industry background spans multiple major studios. Crystal Dynamics employed him as Studio Head, where he successfully directed the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy. Activision later hired him as Senior VP and Head of Development, overseeing projects like Sekiro and various Call of Duty titles before joining The Initiative.
