The Democracy for Citizens Party maintains its position in the Malava parliamentary by-election set for November 27. Deputy leader Cleophas Malala announced Edgar Busiega Mwanga as the party's official candidate during Thursday's ceremony at party headquarters. The constituency seat became available after incumbent MP Malulu Injedi died while receiving medical treatment at Aga Khan Hospital on February 17. Party officials confirmed their participation despite recent withdrawals from other electoral contests.
Malala emphasized that DCP has not negotiated with coalition partners regarding the Malava race. The party previously stepped aside from three by-elections to support allied organizations as part of opposition unity efforts. DCP candidate Adan Mohamed Kiongozi recently withdrew from the Banisa contest following discussions with President William Ruto. The party plans to field candidates in 14 by-elections across the country.
