Delhi reopens Red Fort Metro gates after blast

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation fully reopened Lal Quila Metro Station after closing it following a car explosion near Gate No. 1 that killed at least 12 people and injured nearly two dozen others. DNA testing identified Dr Umar Mohammad, a medical professional at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, as the driver who detonated the white Hyundai i20 near a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg.

Authorities believe Mohammad triggered the blast after learning about the arrests of Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather, along with the seizure of 2,900 kilograms of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, in Faridabad. Police later arrested Dr Shaheen, another Al-Falah University employee, in connection with what investigators describe as a white-collar terror network involving medical professionals with Jammu and Kashmir connections.

Investigative teams from the Special Cell and National Investigation Agency collected more than 40 samples from the scene, while heavy security presence and cordoned zones remained throughout nearby markets during the week-long closure.
