Authorities arrested Munyaradzi Gotora, a 38-year-old Delta Beverages employee, for allegedly stealing nearly 4,000 cases of Chibuku Super beer. The Hwange Magistrates' Court heard three theft charges against the driver, who faces accusations of converting company property worth thousands of dollars. Gotora allegedly committed these crimes between late June and early July 2025 while working at the Hwange depot. Instead of completing legitimate deliveries to Binga and surrounding regions, prosecutors claim he sold the merchandise and retained the profits. The court remanded him pending his next appearance on August 14.
The prosecution detailed three separate incidents where Gotora allegedly stole beer shipments totaling 3,988 cases. He reportedly sold 1,189 cases for $4,451 on June 26, followed by 866 cases worth $3,200 on June 30. The largest theft occurred July 5 when he allegedly converted 1,933 cases valued at $8,779, depositing merely $2,110. Gotora allegedly created false invoices and fabricated credit transactions to conceal his activities. Police discovered the scheme after stock audits revealed significant discrepancies and subsequently found incriminating receipts during a search of his residence.
