Dengue toll climbs in Dhaka as 114 hospitalized and one dead in 24 hours

Bangladesh health authorities reported another dengue fatality as hospitals admitted 114 new patients during the past day. The Directorate General of Health Services tracked admissions across multiple regions with Chattogram receiving the highest patient load at 43 cases. Dhaka division registered 31 hospitalizations while the capital's two city corporations recorded 29 combined admissions. Barishal division treated 10 patients and Mymensingh division handled one case according to official data.

Medical facilities discharged 109 dengue patients nationwide as recovery rates remained steady. The mosquito-transmitted illness has affected 16,395 people since January with total deaths reaching 61 this year. Health officials compared current figures to last year's devastating outbreak that infected 101,214 residents. The previous season claimed 575 lives making this year's mortality rate significantly lower despite continued transmission.
