Dewan Rakyat session set for late nights as MPs prepare to debate 13th Malaysia Plan

Parliament prepares for an extended session beginning Monday through August 28 with debates centered on Malaysia's 13th development plan. Speaker Johari Abdul expects lawmakers to work late into evening hours as his office processes numerous motions from representatives. Sessions will start each morning at 10 and may continue until 10 or 11 at night. Citizens should contact their elected officials through social media during the parliamentary period rather than waiting for constituency visits. Malaysia's role as current ASEAN chair adds importance to presenting the national development framework.

Johari promoted greater use of National Information Dissemination Centre facilities during the opening of a new location in Taman Pekan Baru. The centers offer business opportunities and educational resources beyond basic digital access. Young people especially should utilize these community hubs for learning and civic engagement. Kedah operates 81 such centers after adding four new locations under the one-center-per-constituency program. The Taman Pekan Baru facility began serving residents in February.
