DFCU Bank established its newest location in Fort Portal Tourism City along Babiiha Road, marking the financial institution's 55th branch nationwide. The facility will deliver banking services to residents throughout the Tooro Sub-region districts such as Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, Bunyangabu, and Kasese. Executive Director Kate Kiiza stated that this expansion supports the bank's six-decade commitment to Uganda's economic transformation. The branch targets agricultural enterprises, tourism businesses, and small to medium-sized enterprises across Western Uganda.
Local officials welcomed the investment as Fort Portal continues to develop as an economic center. The bank combines traditional branch services with digital banking platforms and agent banking networks, reaching over 20,000 outlets nationally. DFCU Bank originated as the Development Finance Company of Uganda in 1964 before evolving into a major financial institution. Small and medium enterprises generate more than 80 percent of Uganda's private sector employment opportunities.
