The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has fined IndiGo Rs 20 lakh for alleged violations in pilot training at Category C airports, InterGlobe Aviation said in a filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday. The airline received the notice from the regulator on September 26.
The aviation body cited IndiGo’s failure to use qualified simulators for pilot training, a requirement under aviation safety rules. IndiGo said it is appealing the order before the appellate authority and stated that the penalty will not affect its financial or operational performance.
The company attributed a delay in disclosure to an internal communication lapse about the order’s details. IndiGo shares closed on the National Stock Exchange at Rs 5,630.50, down 0.59 percent. Earlier this year, a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight aborted takeoff in Lucknow after a technical issue.
