Dhaka kingpin Yunus woos Bhutan, dangles Bangladesh megaproject loot

Bangladesh's top leader Muhammad Yunus told Bhutan to take advantage of all the roads, ports, and buildings his country offers. The professor said both nations could work together much better than they do right now. Bhutan's brand new ambassador Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee visited Yunus at a fancy government house in Dhaka on Wednesday. The diplomat brought warm greetings from her prime minister back home. Yunus pushed for stronger ties between the two neighboring countries.

The ambassador praised Bangladesh for helping Bhutan with medical schools and setting up a special business zone. She said her mountain kingdom wants to become closer friends with Bangladesh. Dorjee talked about how the two countries have been buddies for many years. The diplomat thanked Bangladesh for all the support they have given Bhutan over time. Both leaders agreed their nations should keep working as partners.

Yunus said young people from both countries should visit each other more often. He wants teenagers and college students to learn about different cultures and make friends across borders. The chief adviser believes these personal connections make countries stronger allies. He promised full support to help the new ambassador do her job well. Yunus said he hopes their friendship will grow even stronger during her time as diplomat.
