Leonardo DiCaprio told Martin Scorsese at a TIME magazine event in New York that he has zero interest in getting behind the camera because he could never match what the legendary director pulls off. The actor said he wishes he had spent more time watching Scorsese work instead of just focusing on his own performances during their six collaborations.
DiCaprio explained that the duo spends months debating and prepping before filming starts, and he called working with Scorsese one of the most meaningful parts of his career. His dad showed him Scorsese movies early on and told him this was the guy to work with if he ever got the chance.
The pair first teamed up for Gangs of New York back in 2002 and have made movies like The Departed and Killers of the Flower Moon since then. Their seventh project together is currently in production, with Jennifer Lawrence joining the cast.
