Rodger Tafadzwa Kadzimwe, known by many as DJ Levels, works as a music producer and songwriter who became famous across Zimbabwe. He helped start the Chill Spot Records music label with friends. Born September 9, 1989, in Murewa, DJ Levels started his education at Avonlea Primary School in Harare.
He bounced around different high schools, including Ellis Robins, George Stark in Mbare, and finally, Sodbury High School in Darwendale. His music journey began at the Evangelical Fellowship of Believers Church, where he sang and played keyboard. After working with S.E.P.P Records early on, he teamed up with DJ Fantan and DJ Ribhe to create Chill Spot Record, which helped make Zimdancehall music popular in Zimbabwe.
As a producer, DJ Levels has collaborated with many top Zimbabwean artists, such as Enzo Ishall, Gemma Griffiths, Killer T, Tocky Vibes, and Soul Jah Love. His talents earned him recognition as one of the best Zimdancehall producers, and in 2013, he won a Zimdancehall Award for his "Zimbo Flavour" riddim. His personal life includes a previous marriage to Dev Sando, with whom he has a son.
Last year brought controversy when DJ Levels dated Shashl, daughter of former Health Minister Obadiah Moyo. Their relationship lasted over a year but ended badly in November 2022. Shashl accused him of rape, physical abuse, and leaking a private intimate video without her permission. He denied these claims and paid $20,000 bail before his scheduled January 2023 trial.
The situation became more complicated when a new video appeared showing the two being affectionate together. This clip seemed to be recorded by Shashl herself and showed them kissing and cuddling. The public reacted in different ways - some supported them and believed they should handle their problems privately. In contrast, others criticized them for appearing insensitive to victims of assault and domestic violence.
