Djokovic eyes history as Sinner showdown looms in Wimbledon semi-final thriller

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic crushed Italian Flavio Cobolli during their grueling four-set battle at Wimbledon while Queen Camilla watched from the royal box. The 38-year-old Serbian superstar fought back from losing the opening set to dominate his younger opponent with scores of 6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4. Djokovic has reached his record-breaking 14th Wimbledon semifinal and stands just two victories away from capturing his historic 25th Grand Slam crown. The veteran champion will face world number one Jannik Sinner who demolished American Ben Shelton in straight sets. Djokovic admitted feeling grateful that he can still compete at tennis elite levels despite his advancing age.

Sinner brushed aside injury worries to steamroll past tenth-seeded Shelton with a commanding 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 performance on Centre Court. The Italian star had sparked withdrawal fears after his earlier match against Grigor Dimitrov when he trailed by two sets before his opponent retired injured. Sinner wore protective gear on his right arm but declared his physical condition had improved significantly since Tuesday. The young gun has defeated Djokovic four consecutive times including their recent French Open semifinal encounter. Their upcoming clash promises fireworks as both players hunt Wimbledon glory.

Meanwhile Iga Swiatek and Belinda Bencic advanced to their maiden Wimbledon semifinals and will battle for a finals berth. Carlos Alcaraz squares off against Taylor Fritz in the other mens semifinal matchup on Friday.
