DLEAG arrests multiple suspects in drug busts across Gambia

Gambian narcotics agents conducted multiple arrests across the country between November 7 and 8, detaining eight individuals on suspicion of possessing and cultivating illegal substances.

Authorities apprehended Bubacarr Tamba, 31, near Mayork while transporting 46 packages of suspected marijuana hidden in cement wrapping inside flour sacks. Dawda Saidy, 30, was detained at a restaurant in Gunjur with cannabis and ecstasy tablets, while teacher Sang E. Mendy, 40, faced arrest after officers discovered marijuana plants growing behind his home in Kassa Kunda Village. Farmer Borry Barry, 67, was taken into custody after agents found 19 cannabis plants at his Darsilameh Seca residence.

Additional arrests included Bubacarr Sabally, 23, in Brikama Misera with marijuana and ecstasy pills, Amadou Wury Sowe, 22, carrying suspected hashish, and drivers Karamo Manneh, 24, and Baba Galleh Conteh, 18, both found with marijuana wraps in Bafuloto. The Drug Law Enforcement Agency continues investigating all cases.
