Dr. Zaato questions effectiveness of 24-hour economy policy in tackling unemployment

A political expert from the opposition party has raised serious doubts about the government's latest job creation plan. Dr. Joshua Zaato thinks many young people want to see real results from the 24-hour economy program. The policy expert believes citizens are waiting to find out if this ambitious scheme can actually solve unemployment problems. He appeared on a weekend television show to share his concerns about the new initiative. Zaato represents the New Patriotic Party and works as a policy analyst.

The government started this economic program on July 2 with hopes of boosting business activity across the country. Companies that agree to run three work shifts each day will receive special tax breaks from authorities. President John Dramani Mahama claims the policy brings back ideas from Ghana's first leader Kwame Nkrumah. Officials want more factories and businesses to operate around the clock instead of closing early. The administration believes this approach will create thousands of new jobs for unemployed citizens.

Zaato questions whether tax incentives alone can convince business owners to change their operations completely. He thinks the government assumes companies avoid extended hours because they lack financial motivation. The analyst used law firms as an example of businesses that close at normal times for practical reasons. He argues that most companies have good reasons for their current schedules beyond money concerns. The opposition member wants proof that this policy can deliver the promised employment opportunities.
