AMI-Polychaos turns one sustained MIDI input into four related parts, and all four read delayed points from one chaotic sequence. Hold a chord while playback runs, and it keeps making notes. Release the keys, and it stops. No stack of separate random engines here.
SPREAD changes the delay between parts. At zero, they move together; higher settings separate the lines. STAGGER shifts each voice’s Euclidean pattern. HARMONY switches between chord-based chromatic moves and one shared scale. Six chaos maps are onboard, with a velocity cycle and a Euclidean rhythm for every voice.
Audio still comes from another instrument because AMI-Polychaos sends MIDI only. Logic Pro takes AU MIDI, while Ableton Live and other hosts use VST3. The project grew from Dr. Zoppa’s UNAM doctoral work on algorithmic composition and uses Max/RNBO with JUCE.
