Dream Runs Over Mystics in 33 Point Rout

Atlanta Dream beat Washington Mystics 89-56 at CareFirst Arena Sunday afternoon. The Dream entered the game with seven wins and three losses after winning five of six recent games. Washington came off a 37-point victory but struggled against Atlanta's defense. The first quarter stayed close with Atlanta leading 16-13 after 10 minutes. Allisha Gray scored 19 points during the first half on excellent shooting.

Gray finished with 32 points and made 10 of 14 field goal attempts. Atlanta led 45-34 at halftime and outscored Washington badly during the third quarter. The Dream scored 16 straight points to start the second half. Washington could not score for nearly five minutes during that stretch. Shakira Austin finally ended the drought with a layup and free throw.

Atlanta held a 68-44 advantage entering the final quarter of play. Washington managed just 10 points from leading scorer Sonia Citron. The Mystics fell to 4-7 overall with the lopsided home loss. Washington faces Chicago Sky on Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena. Atlanta continues its strong season with another road victory against conference opponents.
