Some lawyer named Ivan Bwowe tried pulling a fast one with Uganda's Electoral Commission by claiming his opponents got nominated under the wrong constituency name. He wanted the EC to toss out all seven rivals and hand him the Nakawa Division West seat without a vote, arguing their paperwork said Nakawa West instead of the full official name.
The EC shut him down hard after bringing everyone together for a hearing. Justice Simon Byabakama pointed out that the actual Control Form everyone signed had the correct name, and campaign schedules got fixed before Bwowe even filed his complaint. The Commission also noted Bwowe's posters used the shortened version of himself, which made his whole argument look ridiculous.
All eight candidates are still in the race for the parliamentary seat.
