ECI nears full SIR Phase II rollout in states

India's Election Commission reported substantial advancement in its electoral roll revision initiative, with distribution of voter enumeration forms reaching 97.5 percent across 12 participating states and union territories. The special verification program covers approximately 510 million registered voters, utilizing over 533,000 booth-level officers and more than one million party-appointed agents conducting household visits.

Smaller jurisdictions including Goa and Lakshadweep, achieved complete distribution of printed forms, while larger states demonstrated strong performance despite managing massive elector populations. Uttar Pradesh distributed 157 million forms, representing 97.6 percent completion, and Madhya Pradesh reached 99.5 percent with 57.4 million deliveries. Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry recorded moderately lower rates between 93 and 94 percent.

Election authorities emphasized the importance of appointing additional booth agents to maintain transparency during verification, particularly in densely populated constituencies. The Commission highlighted its commitment to comprehensive roll updates ahead of scheduled state elections.
