Econet Wireless Zimbabwe wants to split off its infrastructure arm. Shareholder approval would create a new company, Econet InfraCo, and list it on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange. This move would also pull the main Econet Wireless parent company off the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
The new InfraCo already handles the firm's telecom towers, power systems, and property leases. It has a solid financial track record and manages a big portfolio of buildings and land across major cities. This spin-off would let more third-party clients lease these assets.
Econet is following a trend seen with other African telecom giants like MTN and Airtel. The shareholder vote to decide this restructuring is scheduled for early 2026.
