Eight Arrested in Connection with Maua NCPB Depot Looting Incident

Police caught eight thieves who raided a government farm supply warehouse last week. The criminals broke into the National Cereals and Produce Board depot at Maua and made off with thousands of fertilizer bags. Officers found some of the stolen goods and grabbed several cars and motorcycles used for the heist. The gang struck on June 25 when angry crowds swarmed the building. They burned down the main office and wrecked expensive equipment.

The thieves walked away with more than 7,354 bags of fertilizer worth millions of shillings. Depot boss Abednego Sangolo says the real damage could be much worse than the 29 million shilling estimate. The mob also grabbed cereals and office supplies before torching everything. Government officials have ordered security cameras for all farm depots across Kenya. This move should help catch future raiders and stop similar attacks.

Local cops rushed to the scene but could not handle the massive crowd. Detective Alex Wasike promises more arrests as the investigation continues. Police chief Eliakim Silgich warns that future attacks will face tough resistance from law enforcement. Farmers living nearby are angry about losing their cheap fertilizer source. Many must travel long distances to find farm supplies after the devastating raid.
