Elizabeth Olsen demands theatrical release for future studio films

Elizabeth Olsen announced she will reject studio projects without confirmed theatrical distribution. The actress stated her willingness to work on independent films that sell to streaming platforms, but she refuses to create content designed exclusively for digital release. Olsen emphasized the importance of communal viewing experiences and expressed concern about the industry's shift away from in-person auditions.

Since appearing as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022, Olsen has focused on independent productions. Her recent work spans His Three Daughters, The Assessment, and the forthcoming A24 comedy Eternity. She praised the Marvel Cinematic Universe for providing consistent employment and collaborative opportunities, while acknowledging the artistic contributions of visual effects teams.

Olsen described Marvel productions as coordinated efforts involving hundreds of crew members working toward unified objectives. She expressed readiness to reprise her Scarlet Witch role after debuting the character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014. The actress credited the franchise with delivering meaningful work despite its fantastical elements and emphasized her commitment to strong performances across all projects.
