President Emmerson Mnangagwa has stated that Zimbabwe’s creative industry possesses a unique capacity to unify and mobilize the nation, serving as a vital driver for socio-economic development. He made these comments during an address to several Chimurenga choir groups at State House in Harare. The President noted that cultural music and performances have historically inspired focus, resilience, and patriotism among citizens.
He specifically recognized the Mbare, Zimbabwe, Mbuya Nehanda, and Epworth South Chimurenga choirs for their contributions. In appreciation of their work, he presented each group with grocery hampers and cash donations to assist them during the festive season. President Mnangagwa commended the choirs for keeping the revolutionary spirit alive and for informing the public about national development projects. He also praised the founders of the choirs for their commitment to national dignity and identity.
The event was attended by Information Minister Jenfan Muswere and other senior party officials.
