Empty Vessel Nets 11M to Power DEFECT Launch

Empty Vessel raised 11 million dollars for their first game called DEFECT. The studio was started by people who worked at id Software and other major game companies. These developers helped make famous games like Doom, The Last of Us, Call of Duty, Borderlands, and Uncharted. The new money came from a series A funding round that just finished. NCSOFT, 1AM Gaming, and Black Phoenix Games led the investment.

The extra cash lets Empty Vessel grow their team and work on console versions of DEFECT. Right now the game focuses on multiplayer action but they want to add single-player modes. NCSOFT already gave money to the studio before this funding round happened. Studio boss Emmanuel Palalic said the support shows their developer-first approach works well with fans and partners. He wants to create a new type of shooter game that stands out from others.

NCSOFT executive Jeonghee Jin praised Empty Vessel for their fresh ideas about game design and how players interact. The company believes strongly that DEFECT will succeed as a shooter game. Gregory Milken from 1AM Gaming said Empty Vessel makes amazing games and brings new ideas to first-person shooters. The funding helps the team move forward with their plans for the game.
