Super Petrol dropped by Sh0.79 per liter, while Diesel fell by Sh0.11 and Kerosene decreased by Sh0.80. The new rates take effect at midnight and remain valid for thirty days. Nairobi consumers will pay Sh184.52 for Super Petrol, Sh171.47 for Diesel, and Sh154.78 for Kerosene. Regional variations show Mombasa residents paying slightly less at Sh181.21, Sh168.19, and Sh151.49, respectively.
The authority confirmed that all published rates incorporate the sixteen percent Value Added Tax mandated by recent financial legislation. August pricing adjustments had reduced Super Petrol and Kerosene costs by one shilling each while maintaining Diesel prices. Previous July increases reached nearly nine shillings per liter due to elevated freight costs. Shipping companies had raised rates following security incidents affecting the Strait of Hormuz trade route. This waterway accounts for approximately twenty percent of the global oil movement.
