Two men received life sentences for killing an elderly farming couple near Koës in February 2018. Judge Dinnah Usiku sentenced Julius Arndt and Andries Afrikaner at Windhoek Correctional Facility on Tuesday. The court found both men guilty of murdering Giel and Sarie Botma, who were 78 and 80 years old. Arndt and Afrikaner broke into the couple's farmhouse during the night of February 2 and 3. The attackers killed the farmers during a violent home invasion.
Each killer received two life prison terms for the double murder charges. Arndt and Afrikaner also face 15 years for rape and 10 years for robbery. The court added another 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder and theft. Judge Usiku said the victims died cruelly and horribly. The convicted men showed no regret for their terrible crimes against the innocent couple.
