Farmers Starve as Oyo Turns Fields into Estates

Oyo State APC fears a food crisis because farms are turning into housing areas. Hundreds of farmers can no longer work their land in places across Ido and Akinyele. Real estate builders have taken over these spaces where food used to grow. The farmers lost crops like cocoa, cashew, mango, palm trees, maize, cassava, and yam. All these foods were destroyed to make room for new houses.

The APC says the state leaders push away poor people and farmers from their workplaces. They blame the current government for harming local food growers. Citizens already face high prices and scarce food items. States like Niger, Borno, Kebbi and Kwara support their farmers more than Oyo does. APC thinks Oyo wastes its good land that could feed many people.
