FBI floods Minnesota to crack $1B child food aid fraud ring

The FBI is flooding Minnesota with agents over a massive pandemic food aid scam. Director Kash Patel announced a major deployment of investigators to probe the multi-million dollar fraud, centered on the Feeding Our Future network, which involved fake vendors and shell companies, leading to dozens of indictments and convictions. Federal prosecutors now estimate up to a billion dollars in taxpayer funds were stolen from programs meant to feed children during the COVID-19 crisis.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz accepted accountability for the fraud within state programs like Housing Stabilization Services and an Autism Service Center, pledging to fix the systemic failures. The investigation, which has already seen convictions with sentences up to ten years and millions in restitution, expanded last week to include fourteen state programs. The case carries political weight, with many defendants being Somali-American, a community referenced critically by President Donald Trump, who has called Minnesota a hub for fraud and voiced opposition to Somali immigration.
