Fed Up Zim Teachers March for USD1260 Pay

Teachers marched through Manicaland province on Monday demanding better pay. The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe organized the protest against low wages and poor working conditions. Teachers want monthly salaries of $1,260 instead of their current $300 paychecks. Many educators say they cannot afford basic needs like food and rent with such small amounts. Government officials send their children to expensive foreign universities but ignore local teacher struggles.

The protesters asked for longer vacation time and paternity leave benefits. Teachers want real bargaining power to discuss workplace problems with education bosses. Many educators feel treated like second-class workers rather than respected professionals. University of Zimbabwe lecturers have been on strike for 63 days over similar salary complaints. The protests create pressure on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to address public service worker concerns.
