Some women were overheard saying that only people who got the fertilizer would vote for Chakwera in the September 16 elections. They were wearing party reflectors with the MCP logo on them. Several young people were spotted in red golf shirts with VK initials, which the reporter thought might be a reference to Vera Kamtukule. Later on, a white pickup truck pulled up to Masintha Ground. It had Vera Kamtukule's name and picture on it. With all the party-branded stuff around, the whole event felt more like a political rally than a government program.
