FIFA Strengthens Efforts to Combat Online Hate with SMPS at Club World Cup 2025

FIFA fights online hate during the Club World Cup with special protection software. The system watches social media accounts for mean comments against players and coaches. Workers hide nasty posts before people see them on 32 team accounts and 2,019 player profiles.

The protection service started during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Staff have checked 33 million posts across 15,302 accounts during 23 different soccer events. The program hid over ten million bad comments from public view since beginning operations.

All 211 FIFA member countries can use this free service for their players. The system reports serious threats to social media companies and police when needed. Companies may ban users who break their rules about online behavior.

Soccer officials want stronger connections between sports groups and local courts. This partnership helps catch people who send threatening messages to athletes. The protection keeps players safe and stops fans from seeing hateful content during games.
