FL Studio CPU spiking like crazy. Help?

My latest FL Studio project is impossible to work on. The CPU meter is in the red, even with only a few plugins. I've tried increasing the buffer size. What else can I do to fix this awful CPU lag in FL Studio? It's killing my vibe.

Ugh, the worst. First, go to Tools > Macros > "Switch smart disable for all plugins." This turns off plugins when they're not playing audio. If that's not enough, start bouncing your VST-heavy tracks to audio. Right-click the mixer track and "Consolidate this track" > "From track start." This prints it to a .wav file, so you can disable the original plugins. It's the only way I survive big projects in FL Studio.
