Floods trap 366 in Malaysia as waters rise again

The number of flood evacuees in Kedah increased on Sunday morning to 100 people from 30 families at the Pokok Sena Multipurpose Hall, following the relocation of residents from Kampung Permatang Limau in Mukim Lesong. Kedah Civil Defence Force deputy director Major Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain said two rivers reached alert levels at Sungai Ketil in Kampung Bongor, Baling, and Sungai Bata in Kampung Bata, Kubang Pasu.

Perak maintained 107 evacuees from 33 families at three relief centers in Taiping's Larut, Matang, and Selama districts as of 8 a.m. Meteorologists forecast afternoon thunderstorms across multiple districts. Johor kept 159 people from 46 families at SK Melayu Raya in Pontian, where fine weather conditions returned on Sunday morning.
