Bulawayo Provincial Heroes Acre hosted simultaneous funeral services on Monday for two distinguished comrades. Florence Chirenda, widow of national hero Lieutenant Colonel Harold Chirenda, received burial alongside Mangwende Madonko at the Nkulumane site. Mourners gathered as officials lowered both caskets during the solemn ceremony. Family members thanked the government for granting provincial hero status to their relatives. ZANU PF Bulawayo Provincial Chairperson Jabulani Sibanda addressed attendees about the deceased comrades' contributions to national independence.
Florence Mankosi Chirenda was born in Kezi District, Matabeleland South Province, in 1954 and passed away on the 15th of this month. She trained as a journalist in Romania during the liberation struggle and later worked for New Ziana after independence. Five children survive her. Mangwende Madonko served the Zimbabwe National Army and retired in 2007 with Staff Surgeon rank. He died on the 16th and leaves behind his wife, Betty Madonko.
