Kenya's gas prices are staying put for the next month after the energy regulator decided not to mess with anything. Super petrol is holding at 184.52 shillings per liter in Nairobi, diesel at 171.47, and kerosene at 154.78, all with the VAT baked in.
The imported cost of super petrol actually dropped over 4 percent from October to November, but diesel and kerosene both climbed up a few percentage points. Mombasa got slightly cheaper rates across the board compared to Nairobi, while places like Eldoret and Kisumu are paying basically the same as the capital.
The regulator pointed out that crude oil stayed steady around 9,000 shillings per barrel last month, and the central bank governor mentioned that global oil production went up while demand stayed weak. The dollar to shilling exchange rate barely moved between the two months.
