Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claims his DCP party will dominate Nairobi politics by the next election cycle, and he says the Orange Democratic Movement is finished controlling the capital. Speaking at a church service after his candidate won the Kariobangi Ward seat, Gachagua announced plans with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to grab the governorship, plus senate and woman representative positions, while targeting at least 16 out of 17 parliamentary seats and 75 ward representative spots through their coalition.
The ex-deputy president downplayed recent losses in other contests, and he pointed out his seven-month-old party secured three victories where it fielded candidates. He accused the Kenya Kwanza government of using bribes and thugs against opponents, claiming this approach would push Mt Kenya voters away from the ruling administration.
